Resumo: (Volunteering in the maintenance of a butterfly house)
The hosting organization is a cooperative society that deals with communication of science. It was born in 2013, bringing together various fields of professionalism (management, scientific advice, research, exhibitions, educational projects, technology, communication) with a great experience in scientific museums, science centres, zoos, aquariums, research groups and/or experienced in the dissemination.
The idea behind the birth of the cooperative was to have in one working group all the skills needed to create, implement and/or manage exhibitions and didactic paths with live animals and plants. Farfalle nella Testa since 2015 has been managing the House of Butterflies, the biggest structure of this kind in Italy.

Perfil: Age: 18 - 30
The ideal volunteer: is a nature and animals lover - ready to touch animals and take care of them - willing to do manual work and get the hands dirty - ready to live in an ISOLATED village.
Huge plus a scientific background and experiences in the environmental education and/or horticulture.
Has a strong respect of the rules, patient and creative; communicative and open-minded; positive and proactive; adaptable, with a good time management skills; ready to take responsibility and reliable in a crisis; can plan, organise and manage activities.

Tarefas: The volunteers will be involved in the management of the house of butterfly and in the environmental education activities: support the staff during the guided tours, educational workshops and events, especially during summer season; participate in creating, planning and realizing of events; support the staff in welcoming the visitors and explaining the visit; assist the staff during the ordinary and extraordinary management of the Butterfly House: maintenance of tropical greenhouses and more in general of the museum; help during the breeding and care of insects and other invertebrates and vertebrates (morning, before-opening activities); assist the staff for the caring of plants and outdoor gardening activities; participate in staff meetings and specific meetings on various aspects of the managing and maintenance; after an initial phase of knowing the Butterfly House and the context, the volunteers will be encouraged and supported to enrich us with their ideas and experiences.

Condições: The volunteers are hosted in a three-floor house with a garden, located in Bordano. The house has two single bedrooms and one shared bedroom with two single beds, a studio type living area with open kitchen and dining table, a toilet and a shared bathroom. The house is light, clean and provided with all necessary appliances. Volunteers will be provided with money to shop for food. A Pocket money of 5 euro per day will be provided monthly. Farfalle nella Testa can put at disposal bicycles. The travel expenses will be refunded on the basis defined by the EU commission.
