Resumo: (animals)
The hosting organization is a wildlife rescue center that helps around 10.000 birds and animals yearly.
80% of the animals are wild native ones. They are brought to the center or caught by an animal rescue team, because they are wounded, ill or too young to take care of themselves. Cured animals are then released back into nature.
20% of the animals are exotic ones. They are brought to the center because of confiscation, being abandoned, closure of zoo’s, …). They temporarily stay at the Natuurhulpcentrum until a new home is found.

Perfil: Age: 18-30
● Demonstrate a love for a nimals and care about their wellbeing
● Willing to take part in the daily activ ities of the center
● Be motivated to carry out all kind of ta sks
● Good knowledge of English
● Strong motivation to learn Dutch
● Social, enthusiastic and friendly
● Ability to work indepently and in team

Tarefas: The volunteer will be involved in the daily management of the center in our 2 divisions, being our Intensive Care and our Aftercare. This includes:
• assistance to medical care of fractures and wounds (5%)
• feeding the animals (40%), this includes the preparation
• upkeep of accommodations (5%),
• cleaning cages and fences (40%),
• Realeasing animals and assisting on interventions (5%)

Other tasks throughout the year will be:
● assisting in the organisation of the ‘Open House’ – event, which takes place in September
● educational programmes (only if you speak Dutch), such as the following:
▪ Raising awareness about the environment and nature through educational activities.
▪ Walking events, such as the fox wander, an adventurous evening walk in the forests. During this walk the participants will meet several fairy talelike animals who will offer something to eat or drink or who will give a task. If the participant does all the tasks well, he/she can win a little prize.
▪ For schools: guided tours of the center.
▪ Informative posts on the association’s website or brochures e.g. about feeding the birds in the winter.

Horário: • The volunteer will work for 37,5 hours a week.
• The working day in the center consists of different shifts: a day shift from 9 a.m. till 5:30 p.m. and an evening shift from 2 p.m. till 10 p.m. The volunteer will start their first week in one of our 2 divisions (Intensive Care or Aftercare) and work the dayshift from 9 a.m. till 5:30 p.m. In the second week the schedule will change. The volunteer will then be working in both our divisions in order to have more experiences in our center.
• Depending on the needs of the center, the volunteer will work 1 evening shift per week or/ and possibly 1 day during the weekend if necessary.
• Volunteers will normally work on public holidays if these are on normal working days. These days can be recuperated. The head of the department will discuss the possibility of having the public holiday off with the volunteer when this is possible.
• The volunteer is entitled to 2 days off / month (accumulation is allowed). Holidays will have to be discussed with the department’s responsible at least one week in advance.
• Provided proof of attendance is given, a reduction in working hours up to 4h/week can be allowed to be able to take Dutch lessons.

Condições: Accommodation: Volunteers will stay in a shared accommodation on the premises of the project. The building consists of 4 rooms (each furnished with 2 beds and a wardrobe), a shared kitchen, shared sanitary facilities, shared desks and shared laundry machine. A caution (amount to be determined) will be asked for the entry badge to the premises.

Subsistence: will either be covered by rewarding the volunteers with a monthly budget or by groceries being available for volunteers to use. This is still to be determined.
