Resumo: (EDUCATIONAL COMMUNITY FOR KIDS WITH FAMILY PROBLEMS)
The organization´s main aims are the planning and implementation of social activities in favour of children and youngsters, with particular attention to deviation, prevention and family counselling. The values inspiring our social actions are peace making, co – operation as a social model in opposition to individualism and community break – up, diversity seen as a resource, solidarity and centrality of the human being.
Our activities are mainly addressed to children, youngsters and their families (in total around 2000 people), thanks to youth leaders and educators and office employees. We are also supported by the help of many volunteers.
We completely agree with the democratic and participatory pedagogies. Their values as self managed tools for personal and collective development constitute the very essence of our work. The implementation of participatory pedagogies in educational programmes is one of the most important characteristics of non formal education, that is our main methodology.

Perfil: Age: 18-30

Tarefas: Volunteers will be involved in the activities providing support to educators in the educational area.
At the beginning of the experience it is important for the new volunteer to know the environment in which he/she is in service: for this reason its presence is mainly concentrated during the early hours of the morning (in which the children are at school) and accompanied by an educator and another lady who are dealing with the home care.
The tasks that are required in this first period (about 15 hours per week for 2 months) in which the new volunteer is also learning the new language are helping in home and everyday tasks such as housekeeping and home cleaning, preparing lunch, accompanying educators in home commissions and arranging outdoor spaces such as the garden and vegetable garden.
These type of activities are considering very important at educational level and also to integrate the volunteer in the community and give him/her the time also to understand the environment (the children appears friendly and quiet but all of them has different kind of problems to deal with).
Little by little, the volunteer begins to be familiar with the guest of the community, increasing attendance during lunch and dinner time, while playing with them and at the end, once he/she is more familiar with the Italian language, by helping the kids in some activities such as homework.
According with the interests of the volunteer, its creativity will be encouraged in order to offer guests something to do together: a bike ride rather than a football game, a game of society rather than watching a movie together.
The volunteer is also asked to help educators in accompanying the kids, for example bringing a boy to training, station, school ...
The volunteer does not have an educative role, but the one of supporting educators in the everyday activity, for this reason he/she can know only few things about the story and the problems of the children). Educators nevertheless guide him/her in his/her role with the children in the way he/she can be a reference and a model during the service period within the community.

Only in some cases the volunteer also participates in team meetings (whenever it is necessary to be informed about the dynamics running in the community, in order to know the best way of acting).
The community experience is very interesting for volunteers, but it is necessary to integrate it with other projects, just to avoid the routine. For this reason, some volunteers have been involved in several projects in recent years, in which they could put into play their personal skills and interests: e.g. in collaboration with some teachers of a local language school, a foreign language course was launched in which the volunteer proposed mother tongue playful activities; participation in peer to peer education projects at higher schools; various activities in other projects proposed by the cooperative in the area such as young projects and after-school.
