Resumo: The Youth Department of the City Council is a municipal public service aimed at meeting the demands and needs of young people in any field in which they arise, from employment to housing, health, education, social care, rights as citizens, international mobility, training and healthy leisure.
Responding to the very diversity of the youth group, attention is provided in a personalised way, from services such as the Youth Space, the Informajoven or the qualified multiplier point of the Eurodesk Network, which allow a personal listening and the establishment of individual itineraries for each young person, including the monitoring of their results, or aimed at the youth population in general through programmes such as Mandarache Literary Award, the local volunteer programme Implica2, Bolsa de Idiomas, the T-LA (alternative free time), Entre Cuerdas y Metales and Urban CT, among others.

Perfil: This project is aimed at young people between 18 and 30 years old who have not participated in any European volunteering project (EVS or ESC) before.

The selection of our volunteers will be made on the basis of their attitude and willingness to participate in the project. We will positively evaluate young people who express a genuine motivation for our project, as well as a strong commitment to the values of the project. We will also value candidates who show a sense of responsibility. It’ll be appreciated some knowledge of Spanish.

The volunteer's ability to adapt to new cultures and traditions will be considered positively, without being a reason for exclusion, as the working environment will be multicultural.

We consider it important that volunteers possess a spirit of initiative, patience and the ability to step back from interpersonal conflicts in order to deal with them more effectively.

Other aspects that will be taken into account are the maturity of the candidates, the ability to make decisions, the enthusiasm and willingness to participate in the different activities offered, and the level of commitment to the framework of the project.

The selection process is based on the motivations and interests of each interested young person, as well as an open and intercultural attitude and commitment to the objectives of our volunteer project. In any case, we will never consider discriminatory factors such as ethnic origin, sex and gender identity, political beliefs, age, etc.

No young person willing to participate in our project will be excluded for any reason (economic difficulties; social or geographical obstacles; cultural or ideological differences; sexual orientation, age, ethnicity, gender and gender identity, etc.).

Tarefas: The volunteer will support the work of the staff of the various services and programmes of the Youth Department with activities such as:

- Providing support in the organization and development of the different programmes, workshops and leisure activities organized to benefit the young people (mainly, but not only, the linguistic exchange programme Bolsa de Idiomas, the youth volunteer program Implica2 and the Eurodesk Network local information point).

- Creating content and helping boost the social networks of the Youth Department.

- The promotion and dissemination of youth programmes in workshops and presentations in youth organisations and Secondary Schools of the city. The volunteer will contribute with their knowledge, culture, language, interests, concerns and motivations on topics related to European citizenship, cultural identity, etc.

- Designing and implementing socio-cultural activities with children and young participants of the programmes they are involved in and with groups with special difficulties or at risk of social exclusion, such as Botica del Libro, Cáritas, Cruz Roja, Ápices, Asido or Accem, among others. Also promoting and facilitating the knowledge and experience of different and complex realities.

- The volunteer will have to develop a personal project that responds to their interests, feelings, identity and professional objective. The Youth Department will provide them with the necessary resources for the development of a personal proposal with added value.

In terms of learning opportunities, we offer our volunteers:

- Knowledge: getting to know new working methodologies in the framework of Non-Formal Education, systematising their learning, reflecting and getting to know new economic, social, political and cultural realities, and learning to develop and integrate their European awareness and values.

- Attitudes: developing their tolerance, empathy, assertiveness and positive attitude towards conflicts. Developing a greater European awareness.

- Competences: management of non-formal education activities, facilitation of workshops, language and communication skills, digital competences and conflict prevention and conflict resolution skills.

Our volunteering project seeks to promote the values promoted by the EU and the ECS Programme, such as solidarity, equality, justice, respect, fight against exclusion and xenophobia, etc.

Horário: The schedule of volunteer activities will be between 30 and 35 hours per week.

Condições: Accommodation and maintenance
The volunteers who participate in our project will live in a flat located in the city together with other volunteers (2 of them will be part of this project).

The flat will be rented by the Association, the coordinating organization of this project. Each volunteer will have his/her own room to guarantee privacy and space. The coordinating organization will pay the rent of the apartment and the bills on a monthly basis, to free the volunteers from these tasks.

This project is funded by the European Commission and covers, in addition to accommodation, the costs of food, pocket money and local transport. This money will be managed by the volunteer in a free and independent way.
