Resumo: Association was established in 2003 with the objective of community development in a post-war region, empowerment of community members, especially those discriminated, socially isolated and otherwise marginalised. As a non-profit, non-government community organisation we're working towards a Vision of a humane, democratic environment in which Association acts as a generator of changes and a stronghold of positive ideas. Given our country's history and current "developing" democracy, our primary Mission is to empower citizens to develop a sense of responsibility and initiative for the advancement of the entire community.

Perfil: Age: 18-30

Tarefas: activities designed to promote civic education among children. Topics of tolerance, gender equality, human rights and solidarity are especially important for children in a post war community like Petrinja. Activities planned to meet the objectives:
Making puppets, writing scripts and preparing puppet shows and workshops; In our puppet studio volunteers will be in charge of designing and sewing interesting and educative puppets, writing educational scenarios that are adjusted for the age of children, with clear morals of the story. The workshops will be led by EVS volunteers who are always interesting to children and they want to learn more about them and their culture, which is a great way to start a discussion about multiculturality.

Conducting workshops and puppet shows for children; Once the volunteers prepare their activities for children they implement them in kindergartens, schools and other public institutions. Contact with children from the community is the most important part of the project, it gives new knowledge to children and opportunity for volunteers to practice their skills gained during EVS service. Learning how to be more tolerant and solidary automatically makes children more open and not prone to stereotypes later on, volunteers included in activity have more confidence to design and lead new ideas.
