Resumo: The European Center is an independent, nonprofit organization whose mission is to promote the work and memory of the President Robert Schuman-Father of Europe and to get the general public accustomed to European construction and the further challenges of the EU. The Center was founded at the initiative of the European Commission and the General Council of Moselle on 9 May 2000.

Through the educational service of the Museum, the Center hosts about 5000 young Europeans per year with the aim of raising awareness of the European Union and of involving students mainly in a dynamic reflection on the future of Europe. This European education for youth takes the form of educational workshops and cultural events. Since 2006, the Center has been proposing conferences and workshops on various topics such as energy policy of the EU and sustainable development.

Perfil: In general, we are looking for a volunteer who shows a sense of initiative, who is creative, has interpersonal skills, is open-minded, sociable and flexible. He or she should have the ability to adapt in a new environment and be eager to learn. We are also looking for a volunteer who is eager to promote the EVS program and thus is interested in the European topic.

Plus, it is highly important for us that the EVS is willing to do long-term volunteering. We choose for
a long period consciously because we like the volunteer to have the time to get really involved into
the program. That will make the whole experience more sustainable, both for the volunteer and the
host organization.
If the volunteer speaks French and German, this is a real asset!

Tarefas: The volunteer is expected to take an active part in the everyday life of the organization, helping in all aspects of its development. The project will take place at the Centre. The main activities of the volunteer will be:
• Running educational and funny activities for Europeans – children and adults. All those activities include the installation of the equipment and the tidying up when the activities are over.
• The development and the creation of new teaching material according to the European Union’s topicality.
• The development of the activity of the educational service, including searching new publics: public relations, relations with the local and regional press, elderly persons’ associations, the houses of culture and youth, summer camps…

The volunteer can develop initiatives on his/her own experience as long as they correspond to the aims defined by the educational team and the host organization.
- The practical organization and the schedule of the educational service for the leaders of the activities.
- The welcoming of the potential public.

The tasks will also include:
- Documentation of the activities, using the digital and video camera for ensuring the visibility of
EVS project
- Language learning
- Realization of a personal project with the help of the host organization
