Resumo: The host organization is an adventure playground that aims at offering children and young people the opportunity to play and learn social skills such as taking responsibility and working in a group while keeping them off the streets and away from often problematic conditions at home. The playground has 4 staff members as well as freelance staff and several volunteers. The organization has two main areas of activities: one open area with a play house, a fireplace, a soccer field and a half pipe, a computer room and a play construction site, as well as an animal area with sheep, goats, rabbits and guinea pigs. The organization offers workshops and activities to the children and youths visiting the project, many of whom are disadvantaged. The project wants to give them a place to feel at home, keep them occupied with playful and educational activities, teach them social skills and give them access to pedagogically trained adults.

Perfil: The organization has the following expectations towards the volunteer’s required skills and interests:
- enjoy working with children and young people
- enjoy working with animals and outdoors
- be open-minded and motivated
- be open to work independently
- ability to work in a team
- willing to bring in own skills and interests
- basic knowledge of German language would be an advantage
- age: 18-30

Tarefas: The volunteer will have the opportunity to work in all areas of the adventure playground. One main task is looking after the animals: feeding them in the mornings and helping with cleaning the stable. The volunteer will also show interested children how to feed the animals and how to take care of them, for example brushing the sheep and cleaning the stable together with small groups of children.

The volunteer will also work in the open area, and interact directly with the children by suggesting activities such as football matches or other sports, showing them how to build a fire, cooking with the children or assisting in the computer room.

The organization is very interested in facilitating cultural exchange between the volunteer and the children, many of whom also have a non-German family background. The volunteer is very welcome to, for example, suggest games, sports and creative activities from his or her country of origin, or cook typical meals with the children.

Condições: Working hours, working time: The weekly working hours will be 30-35 hours.

Training and support for the volunteer: Language classes counts as working time.

Pocket Money: The volunteer will receive 110 Euro/month as pocket money.

Public Transport: The volunteer will be reimbursed for the costs of a monthly public transport ticket.

Description of the accommodation: The volunteer will live on the grounds of the adventure playground, in an employee apartment, which he or she might share with another volunteer. Each volunteer will have an own bedroom. The volunteer must therefore be prepared to live on his or her own, and take of his or her own meals, laundry etc.

How will the food arrangement be?: The volunteer will receive money for groceries.

International travel costs: The volunteer will receive a financial contribution to his/her travel costs from his/her place of origin to Germany and back. The amount depends on the distance travelled. For travel distances between 500 km and 1999 km: 275 Euro including the return trip.
