Resumo:
Founded in 1984, our organization was recognized in 1991 as a foundation of public interest. The organization is responsible for music education in over 60 municipalities of Luxembourg (certified music courses) with a total of almost 5,500 students enrolled in various music courses. In the field of non-formal education, the School organizes throughout the year numerous vocational and advanced training courses and workshops on the national and international level, as well as bilateral and multilateral exchanges in collaboration with other youth organisers and partners, including the National Youth Service (Youth Ministry) of Luxembourg. The activities of the School are aimed towards residents of Luxembourg and the greater region, as well as residents of other European countries for the international activities.

With regard to its social integration and youth policy, the School integrates every year young students in its administration office for an internship of several weeks, as well as numerous young people in the coaching staff of its vocational and advanced music courses. In the past, the School has already welcomed several European volunteers in the frame of the Erasmus+/ Youth in Action programme with the idea that the dynamism and the new and upcoming ideas of young people allow to develop better didactic and tutorial approaches and initiatives oriented towards youth, notably in the field of the new means of communication. The participation in the EVS is challenging for both our organization and the volunteers. As a specialized youth organization, we want to reinforce the professional knowledge of the volunteers by developing their organizational and pedagogical skills and expertise in various domains that could help them in their future professional career. Our work as a national and international promoter of culture, music, folklore, theatre and youth will also allow the volunteers to gain a unique insight into how to develop and elaborate projects, to coach and supervise groups of children and youngsters, and to work in teams, all of this in a multicultural environment.

The staff of the Music School is composed of 3 executive and 10 administrative staff as well as 5 board members and counts some 200 teachers that work all around the country in the different municipalities. The staff members are qualified and experienced to work with youth and children. Volunteers are tutored by the director, the deputy director and a former volunteer of the Music School, who are experienced persons used to coach young people - either in the frame of youth exchanges or in the frame of internships at our office. In the past, the School already coached five European volunteers in the frame of the Youth in Action programme (2005, 2007, 2013 and 2014) and Erasmus + (2015 and 2016).

Perfil: To avoid disappointment on both sides we have identified a clear volunteer profile with regards to cultural, linguistic and pedagogical interests, which will allow them to integrate quickly and be able to work relatively autonomously within our organisation.

Since we work with a young multicultural target group, the volunteer should be open to learn and use new languages and to experience intense intercultural exchange. They should have good social skills and not be afraid of communication with young people. The volunteer should have a passion for music, musical theatre and other cultural activities and is expected to undertake the organisational, relational and pedagogical tasks for multicultural activities with young people aged between 15 and 25 coming from diverse cultural backgrounds and countries. Given the European dimension of the youth activities of our EVS project, a good knowledge of English as well as one of our common languages – French or German – is important, any further linguistic knowledge would be an advantage to the volunteers’ activities.
Age: 17-30

Tarefas: Our EVS project entrusts one volunteer, during a twelve month period – January to December 2017 – with specific administrative, creative and pedagogical tasks, according to their skills and interests, related to our youth activities that have an international or European dimension, that are scheduled in our program; these activities include, among others, international youth exchanges, orchestral work sessions for young musicians and concert tours of young talented European and Luxembourgish soloists.

The volunteer will be involved in a wide range of tasks including: the organisation of the youth projects, its’ promotion and mediatisation; communication and cooperation with foreign partners and participants; elaboration of the daily schedule of activities of the projects; elaboration of youth related cultural programs (trips, talks, visits); promotion of the activities to elicit the interest of the participants and public; provision of ongoing contact and support to help participants solve any problems that arise before, during and after the projects; pedagogical coaching of the young participants to problem solve and favour group integration; and pedagogical assessment of the project results.

The aim of our EVS project is to reinforce the professional knowledge of the volunteers by developing the qualities and abilities that could be useful in their future professional career – notably relational, organizational and linguistic skills - in the rich and diversified surrounding of a cultural organization dedicated to youth. Their direct involvement in multicultural activities with young people will also help develop their ability to adhere to a project, to work in a team and to coach groups of young people.

Our organization wants to benefit from the dynamism and the input of new and novel ideas of young volunteers in order to broaden our horizon regarding didactic and tutorial approaches and initiatives oriented towards youth as well as the new means of communication used by young people.
