Resumo: We are a unit in the municipality of Östersund, loocated in the middle of Sweden, organised under the municipality administration, development/growth area. The main tasks is to find, meet and coach young people aged 16-30 en route into adult life, with a particular focus on those who need extra support to find their way. To clarify; unemployed youth and a special focus is kept on long-term unemployed youth, youth receiving social service, disadvantaged youth, youth not in the school-system but also youth in general thinking about their future. All young people get a personal coach that give support through programs of introduction to a working life, various motivation-actions and guidance-counselling. We offer activities in forms of practical experience and work training, group activities, orientation courses and mobility actions. We act as an arena for cooperation for society’s various initiatives for the group. We have the mission to highlight the needs of the target group and find collaborative solutions that generate synergy effects.

Perfil: We are looking for outgoing volunteers in age between 20 and 30. People who like to learn new things, are curious, enjoy meeting new people and build relationships. Most important for us is that you have the motivation to participate actively in our project.

To enjoy this project, you need to have a lot of interest within the social field and working with young people (16-29 years) because that's what you will do for a year. It requires a great ability to listen, in the way to understand and capture the needs of the participants, while at the same time reaching out to the participants and gaining their confidence. Many tasks in the project require at the same time team work and to take your own initiatives, that’s why we want you to have previous experience in these and that you feel ready to work with it even more. It's important that you speak and understand English well, because verbal communication will be your primary tool. We expect that during the project you will be keen on learning Swedish, the language lessons you will receive are for good help in the process.

Tarefas: A.Social leisure activities

Your main task as a volunteer is to take part and arrange social activities with the youth. This tasks includes to:
1. Create a connection between the youth and different associations of interest to the youth; your mission is to support the youth to participate in different activities arranged by associations and sport clubs but also to be more aware of the kinds of events and happenings they can participate to in the city.
2. Arrange "intern" activities in groups; as cooking, handcraft workshops, sport activities, culture talks, outdoor activity, movie afternoon and other leisure time activities depending on the youth groups interest and your creativity.

Working method: You will in team with the other volunteer every week have a meeting with coordinator to discuss future activities. Take part of previous project activities but also investigate what the interests of young people are. Discover associations and events happening in the community. Arrange new activities. Attract and motivate the youth to participate. Create flyers and advertise the activities. You will learn about what there is to do in the city by active searching for associations and visit different social meeting places. The next step will be to implement this to the participants through active workshops. Your task is also to document the activities and write statistics.

B.Help leader in "Unga i Huset":
Take part as a help leader in the daily activities for the group 1-3 times a week, take responsibility to everyday conversations and small talks, within the group and with each participant, about everything and nothing to build up a good connection with the individuals in the group. Some of the task will be routine, like arranging breakfast and practical preparation for different activities. Together with professional staff take part in preparing activities for the group. The activities are possible to influence out from your experience but always need to be in line for the goals of our
activities and follow a certain method that you will be introduced to. You will lead up to two activities, per week, for the group.
Working method: to learn from the method we use and you will have to pay attention to listening in Swedish and to learn from the staff you will work with by asking a lot of questions and be active participant. Give suggestions and new ideas. Support the leaders.

C.joIN
joIN is the activity that combine Navigatorcentrum with Integrationsservice with the mission to create social meetings between youth and newcomers. The activities arranged is similar to the social activities with the connection to local associations and arranging of workshops but has a focus on cultural exchange of experiences. This tasks includes to:
• Ones a month arrange a cultural café at Navigatorcentrum/Integrationsservice
• Arrange new social meetings/workshops/activities
• Take part in creation and arranging of two (during your EVS) big public events with focus on inclusion and cohesion.
Working method: Every week you have meeting with the volunteers and coordinator from Integrationsservice to plan and create activities. You carry out previous project activities but also Investigate the needs and interests of the target group. Investigate different kind of integration activities that are arranged in Östersund. Initiate collaboration with organisations and plan for new activities in cooperation with local stakeholders. You create marketing materials and motivate youth to participate. Your task is also to document the activities and write statistics.

D.Mobility
Volunteer´s assignment is also to arrange international activities in the way to spread and show different opportunities for the youth to have experiences abroad. Sharing your experience to make the youth curious about international possibilities.
Working method: Gather information about different possibilities in Europe. Arrange information meetings and workshop for youth in our Arena and other places about the different possibilities. Share your own experience to be a volunteer. Arrange presentations, informational meetings, workshops, intercultural meetings (e.g. language café), create flyers and materials.

E.Personal Project
You will have space to create your own project. It can be anything out from your own interest and involve youth in some way.
Working method: Take initiative and responsibility on something create by you self from the beginning to the end.

Horário: You have 2 weekly free days - normally Saturday and Sunday. In special cases it can
happen that you have activities during the weekend, but then you can have some days off in
the week.

You can have vacations, as everyone else. An EVS volunteer has 2 extra days off per
month, based on the activities and the schedule. You will collect your free days and have a
longer holiday during the Christmas and summer, its mandatory to take 2 weeks of vacation
in end of August. Of course every decision is made in collaboration. It is your obligation to
talk always with the supervisor and the coordinator of your project before you schedule your
vacations. The working hours will be agreed when you arrive.
