Resumo: The project will provide the volunteers with the opportunity to be actively involved in the daily activities of the hosting organization and its partners and coordinating organization in Kazanlak. The daily activities are in the fields of ecology, social and art. The activities are directed towards building a bridge between cultures (cultural values exchange), national and generational ones, towards teaching the locals to use empathy and tolerance for the so-called different people, and towards improving the image of local schools and cultural and educational institutions. The volunteers will work as well elderly houses and daily care center for disable children.

The main goal is the volunteers to gain experience through practicing various professions, in the town and in the village, in different historical contexts- for example through taking part in historical reenactments during which the volunteers wear folk costumes, and other similar methods. This experience will resemble a time travel, which will make the volunteers have deeper knowledge of our culture through emotional experience. A book will be published with pictures of the embroideries of the folk costume worn by the volunteers. The book will have the form of a contemporary fairytale. It will be the right source of knowledge about Bulgaria for volunteers wanting to come to Bulgaria.

Perfil: Age: 17-30

Tarefas: The volunteers will be actively involved in various art activities and art therapy, which will help for teaching the local youngsters and elderly people to be more tolerant to different cultures, and will disseminate the idea that traditions must be preserved and developed further. The volunteers will become familiar with some art techniques such as weaving, working with wool and similar natural materials, mastery techniques, and other creative ideas for making dolls, toys, decorations, bookmarks, etc. The volunteers will present their countries’ cultural heritage, and their countries in general, and will develop their own ideas for mini projects.

During the project the volunteers will visit the University, and especially the chairs of cultural tourism, tourism and ethnology, history and geography, as well as local schools. This will help the volunteers improve their adaptivity and will develop skills for work. The methods used are the following: discussions, presentations, active pedagogy; thematic workshops, art therapy, musical therapy, folk dances, role games, self-presentation, simulation games. The activities will be based on the principle “together in art.” Various meetings with specialists in different spheres will be organized according to the interests of the volunteers in order to improve their work and also to gather more materials for the newsletter.
