Resumo: The host organization is a bilingual primary school , which is located in the south-west of Berlin, 20 minutes by train to the city-center, sorrounded by family houses and wood.It is located close to the bilingual Kindergarten, which also belongs to the same organisation as the school itself. At the moment 60 children aged 5 to 12 years old learn here from 9 a.m. till 4 p.m.. They can stay at school from 7.30 a.m. till 6 p.m. We plan to get more children from Summer 2016 on.Children take part in a German-English-speaking environment. The team consists of international staff (from America, India, Kenya etc.).

Thus the children are in constant contact with native speakers and are so playful introduced into the foreign language. A smooth transition into the first class of the bilingual Montessori school either from the Kindergarten or from outside is part of the concept. The team from both institutions work closely together. Joint activities of the kids play an important role for that. The Montessori method assumes that every child, every human being has an inner drive and motivation to explore its surroundings, to understand and to grow in it and through it. The free work is an important component in the Montessori pedagogics. In our school the children have the opportunity for sensory experiences that go beyond conventional teaching of knowledge.

Variety is the key to learning successfully. Subject material is not just “worked through”, but developed by the students. They need time to immerse themselves in the subject and apply their knowledge. – variety is the key to learning successfully. Subject material is not just “worked through”, but developed by the students. They need time to immerse themselves in the subject and apply their knowledge. We emphasize the creativity and uniqueness of each child, because each individual personality enriches the whole group. In mixed-age classes, younger and older students offer each other support and awareness. Our teachers are aware of the children’s sensitive phases and support individual students in their development. Especially important for us is the social learning in the early and late hours as well as in the afternoon. In addition, the nearby Wannsee and the forest play a major role. This allows the children an access to naturalness and dealing with nature
