Resumo: The Association is thought, from 1986, as a permanent space of sharing and cultural production which favors the aggregation and implementation of all the social components available in order to promote a real culture of childhood. The very young members, aged from 3 to 14 years, are currently about 200; adult volunteers are about 15 and they take care of educational, cultural and organizational aspects together with the operators.

Perfil: Age: 17-30

Tarefas: The EVS volunteers will support the staff during the preparation and the implementation phases of the different activities for the children. By participating in the project, the volunteers will learn/improve their social, practical, organizational and linguistic competences and, in particular, those related to the work with the children.

The first weeks of their service will be focused on: the on-arrival training organized by the Italian National Agency; the preparation meetings with the association and the children; the integration in the local community; getting to know the area. The main activities will be organized considering the competences and the attitudes of each volunteer, examples are: art and theatre workshops; books production; summer camps; music, sport and outdoor activities. Thanks also to the cooperation with different local associations, the association will give the volunteers the opportunity of being involved in other activities together with other EVS volunteers and international trainees, hosted by other organizations in Matera, enriching the intercultural dimension of the project. The hosting organization will also offer them support for the implementation of a personal project, related to the activities.

During all the project, the association will organize every week an evaluation meeting between the volunteers, the mentor and the staff. This will help to check the volunteers satisfaction, their learning process and integration in the local community, as well as to plan the activities. The reliability and the experience, gained by the hosting organization in 25 years of work, assure the quality of the project. The volunteers will be accommodated in a apartment located in the old city of Matera, near the school where the association works. They will monthly receive the pocket money foreseen by the Programme together with the food money . The volunteers will gain autonomy, as they will have to manage their budget and share the house with other international volunteers or trainees. The association will support the volunteers in learning Italian and will help them to integrate in the local community also during the informal time, in order to promote the intercultural exchange dimension and the European values by sharing ideas and participating in the social life.
