Resumo: The host organization is looking for one EVS volunteer from Portugal who is motivated to enrich our team for 12 months.

The organization is a residence for elderly people, is situated in the centre, the capital city, in a rather quiet surrounding of the town.

Our organisation is a private nursing home for elderly people, some of them are still self dependent, but most of them are in need of care. Our main goal is to find a way to combine self independency and autonomy with the support needed. Based on the biographies of every resident we generate an individual care plan which will be realized by our specialized nursing staff. In addition to our support service we offer an all-round activities program for the elderly (trips, cinema, movement classes…).

Perfil: • wants to get to know the work with elderly people and participate actively
• is interested in learning more about another generation and their biographies
• is open-minded, friendly, enthusiastic, creative and communicative
• is willing to work in an interdisciplinary team and reflect her/his work
• is motivated to learn some German
• brings her/his own culture and interests into the project
• is ready to volunteer for 12 months starting in October

Tarefas: • Participation and co-organisation of daily routine
• Participation in different recreational activities (games, walks, shopping)
• Participation and co-organization of in-house activities (season activities, discussion groups, creative workshops)
• Accompanying residents to different appointments (doctor, hospital)
• Getting to know contact and communication methods with elderly people or people in need of care
• Getting used to some geriatric disease pattern and how to handle them professionally
• Sharing life experience with the elderly, learn more about biographies and life events
• Learning to work within an interdisciplinary team
• Tutorials – working independently with guidance
• Taking part in regular team meetings
