Resumo: Youth Center is a community space and youth node in the town that functions as a meeting place for young people and increasingly for the whole community of Idrija. The story of Youth Center dates back in 2008, when the need for a common youth space was articulated at one of the round tables organized by Student’s Association. A petition for the founding of such space followed and a vision plan for it was written by young activists of Students’ Association and local Scouts’ Association. After years of negotiations with local government, a 300 m2 in the old monastery were given into use to young local people in 2012. Youth center was thus formed as an umbrella organization by 3 local NGO. Youth volunteers renovated the spaces and furnished it with second-hand and DIY furniture, donated by inhabitants and businesses.
In 2015, additional 40 m2 were acquired to host youth-led makers’ and hackers’ space. Currently in youth center is
working 1 person, others are volunteers.

Perfil: Volunteer should be motivated, able to work in a team, be sociable, flexible and creative: we would like to host people with interesting hobbies, with their own ideas and open to different cultures.
Age: 17-30

Tarefas: The project will go in two main directions:
1. Help in daily center (social care programme) for children (10 – 15 years) in day-to-day activities (workshops, supporting children).
2. In Youth center:
- creating/developing alternative activities of spending free time for youth.
- creating presentation about EVS activities (to give more visability to the Erasmus+ program (especially EVS) towards local young people).
- informing local young people about Erasmus+ programme and opportunities.
- preaparing promotional materials

As this will be the first EVS project, volunteer will also be challenged to create anintercultural atmosphere and intercultural dimension to local activities.

We are open for ideas from volunteer about their own projects (The youth centre is a good place for
people to bring in their own ideas and activities like different forms of arts, sports, games, intercultural
projects...)

Horário: WORK: Volunteer will work a max. of 7 hours per day – 5 days/week. Working hours in center are between 9.00 to 19.00 (from Monday to Saturday).
HOLIDAYS: Two day off per month
